Perryville Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Library @ Perryville has had a great start!  We purchased the study table and chairs for the teen center and a CD player for listening to audio books in the library.  The Friends group has also been able to purchase the new Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows book and audio book by J.K. Rowling.

Our online book sale through Amazon.com has been very successful.  Keep bringing your books and tell your friends and family to donate their unwanted books to the Friends of the Library.  Make sure you say, "It is for the Friends", and then all proceeds go directly into our fund which then goes to purchases for our library.

Yearly membership fee is $5.00 per person or $9.00 per family. All fees and fund-raiser profits will go to purchasing new materials for the Perryville branch library.

If you have any questions about the Friends of the Library @ Perryville you can ask any of the library staff or call Jennifer Lopez @ 573-574-7275 or 573-547-3882.

We are looking forward to a rapidly expanding group of Friends!

The Friends group is also working on a Perry County Family History Book.
Any questions you can call 573-547-7275 or 573-547-3882.
They have many fun and educational activities planned for the year 2008.

In The Enemy among Us, David Fiedler tells the story of entirely ordinary people who lived in extraordinary times. This fascinating tale recounts the creation of the camps and the lives touched when fate brought Missourians and the enemy face-to-face. Though they did not seek those circumstances, none could forget how their lives changed when POWs came to Missouri.

David Fiedler has lectured on Missouri's WWII-era POW camps across the state.  His articles on that and other topics have appeared in dozens of newspapers and magazines as well as the Associated Press, the Wall Street Journal Online and the New York Times Syndicate.

Dave's Missouri credits include the Missouri Conservationist and Missouri Life magazines.  The Enemy Among Us was Dave's first book.  He is also the author of Ballwin, a pictorial history of Ballwin, Missouri, and is presently working on a novel.

Dave graduated from Washington University and was an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve.  He lives in St. Louis.
